Event Dates: 9/9/2009 - 9/13/2009

For five days in September, noted local and regional artists will be painting at locations throughout the beautiful Martis Valley near Truckee in Tahoe. September 9 - 13, 2009

Formerly known as “Seasons of Martis”, this year’s plein air event has been expanded to include all of beautiful North Lake Tahoe.  Artists will be painting on location Wednesday – Friday, September 9-11.  The silent auction, demonstrations and public sale will take place at the Village at Northstar on Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13, the same weekend as the Autumn Food and Wine Festival.  The show and sale of these paintings will then move to North Tahoe Arts in Tahoe City and continue until November 1st.

“Plein air” painting is painting outdoors quickly in order to catch the light and sense of a location.  This event identifies the unique beauty, topography and ecosystem of the Lake Tahoe Basin.  Jean Stern and Craig Mitchell are busy making the jury selections for this year from a large number of extremely talented California and Nevada artists.  Judges at the event will be ZeeZee Mott, Craig Mitchell, and Paul Kratter.

"PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION"
Location: Bartley Ranch Amphitheater
Event Dates: 7/13/2009 - 7/13/2009
Reception: 7/13/2009 • 6-9 PM

July 13, 2009

The Reno Pops Orchestra will be presenting “Pictures at an Exhibition” on Monday, July 13th at Bartley Ranch as one of the Artown events this summer.  The concert will include music from the composer Moussorgsky, who was inspired to write this work after viewing artist’s paintings while in Paris. There will also be music with a color theme: Mood Indigo, Rainbow Connection, Being Green, Yellow Rose of Texas, Deep Purple, etc., which will include a color show.

To enhance this event, we are inviting artists to come and bring a piece of work in progress and display it in a beautifully landscaped area near the amphitheatre from 6:00 – 7:15 pm, before the concert begins.  Those attending this event will then have the opportunity to walk around beforehand and view the art, speak to the individual artists, and enjoy all there is to see.

"2nd Annual Winnemucca Ranch Art Show and Fundraiser"
Location: Patagonia Gallery, 8550 White Fir St Reno, Nv.
Event Dates: 10/13/2008 - 10/26/2008
Reception: 10/16/2008 • 5:30-8:30 pm

More than a dozen well known local artists, photographers, potters, sculptors and basket makers will be creating art based on or of materials from the threatened Winnemucca Ranch area. This area, 30 miles north of Reno, is the target of new high density development. We believe new growth should be directed  toward the traditional urban cores of Sparks and Reno, not flung randomly outward just because a politically connected developer bought a ranch. This benefit exhibition will raise money to preserve the ranch and support other efforts to fight for sensible growth in Washoe County.
